Hand Strip

Hand stripping is when the dead coat is removed either by hand or a stripping knife. This allows the new wire coat to grow through while maintaining the texture and colour of the coat. Hand stripping is done on wiry coats such as the Border Terrier, Airedale Terrier and Schnauzer.

In some cases dogs do not tolerate hand stripping in which we will refuse to carry on the process and will use a different technique. Not all dogs have the suitable coat for hand stripping but once we have had a look and feel of your dogs coat we can then advise you on what is the best grooming option.
