Starting the Business
Being officially qualified it was now time to start the process of setting up my own dog grooming business.
First things first .... Coming up with a Company name.
It wasn't easy as there are so many good names already taken. I was on the line of calling the business 'Supermutts' but then out of the blue me and my partner came up with 'Oh So Hairy' which i loved straight away.
Then all the hard work begins .... Finding to right conversion Company.
Whilst in training i already had my mind set on being mobile. I visited a specialised conversion company who kindly allowed me to look around their warehouse to see some conversions taken place. I was very impressed with their overall design and process of converting a van. We then sat down to discuss prices and what i was looking for in a conversion. So as soon as i returned home the hunt was on for a van.
Choosing a van...
I'm very picky so to trying to find a suitable van for me wasn't easy. In the end i opted for a Ford transit LWB Van. Seeing as i have only ever been driving a small car and never driven a large van before it was surprisingly comfortable to drive. But of course i needed a trustee reversing camera just to make parking a little easier :) Once the van was chosen it was booked in to get converted.
Sorting out the business...
Next step was to sort out my pricing, services that i am going to offer, and of course the delivery areas i am going to cover. So yeah i was basically a computer nerd for atleast a week. This also included quite a bit of online shopping to order all the necessary equipment i needed for my van.
Advertising.....
This was the fun part. Getting my leaflets and business cards designed and printed. I also then had my website designed and it was then my job to add all of it's content. It took a little while to add all the content and i am in fact still added to my website every week just to keep you up to date on my latest news.
