03 April 17 - Matting!!

Matting!!

Not many people realise that dogs do need grooming on a regular basis as well as you brushing the dogs coat inbetween grooms.

Mats are basically big knots in a dogs coat, they can be very uncomfortable and painful for the dog to have as they pull on the skin.

You dogs coat may look nice and healthy but its not until you feel you dogs coat that you realise there may be a few knots here and there.

Imagine if you had long hair a never brushed it for a few days, you will end up having knots and tangles in your hair which is then painful to brush out.

In some cases if there are a few little knots we as groomers can brush them out as long as the dog is comfortable with that.

However when the mats are big and tight to the skin the only way to remove them would be to clip them out. i understand that most people wouldn't like their dog to be clipped short but it is in the best interest of the dog to remove them to make them feel a lot more comfortable.

As a groomer i am not scalping your dog, i am making the dog feel a lot better. If i leave mats in a dog i wouldn't be doing my job correctly. The hair grows back!!

I am here to offer advice on what brushes you should be using on your dog depending on their coat to help keep them matt free.

Feel free to contact me: 07754 987 171

So please brush you dog and book them in for regular grooming sessions.
